About us:
Dr. Roach Outdoor League was form by Dr. John Roach in 1928. We have been in our currently location on Berlin lake since the 1940s. The organization was formed to promote outdoor friendly spirt and perpetuate and improve for future generations the advantages of the outdoors, to promote reforestation, conservation of all natural resources, to promote better hunting, fishing, and recreation. This helps promote better physical and moral well-being through contact with outdoor life.
We are a non-profit member owner organization operated by a Board of Directors. The organization was built on the members helping maintain and improve the grounds which allows us to provide the best value on the lake. This is a family oriented organization that is gated private property on Berlin lake. The property consists of about 35 acers with water access through a private boat ramp. We have several social events a year for members and their families / guests. There are about 130 campsites on the property.
Guidelines for membership
1. Preferential treatment (accepted at directors meeting, January & July of each year) to children of members whose application is received after their 18th, but before their 21st birthday.
2. All other applications are placed in the order the membership committee receives them.
3. Reinstatement of members who drop out for whatever reason shall go to the bottom of the list and do not retain accrued time.
4. Every applicant is subject to a background check and the Board of directors reserves the right to limit or deny membership.
5. The Board holds the rights to limit membership, applicants on file would go on a waiting list.
Information and Key Points of the Organization:
Each member is required to do 12 hours a year of work detail. If you don't perform this work its billed $15 per hour of unworked hours. This work consists of mowing, cleaning, and maintaining the grounds.
There is no electric or sewer hook ups. You can use generators that meet our spec's and we have a septic company that will dump your holding tanks on your trailer for a yearly fee.
There are water hook ups to fill your tank on your camper, but you can only connect to it for the purpose of filling your tanks.
We have on site shower houses and outhouses for members use if you do not wish to use your campers facilities.
Dues are $500 a year.
No pets.
There is a $150 initiation fee for new members due with your first years dues when you are admitted to the organization. (April or July).
We have a private boat ramp, but do not rent docks. They are owned by the members. You can purchase from another member or build one, but organization holds the permits.
There is a pond for fishing, club house for events, and a pavilion.
We sell ice and gas on the property for members use.
Golf carts are permitted on the property that meat the specs of the organization. A yearly registration fee of $25 is required.
The club is gated off from the public and requires membership and key to access the grounds.
This a family organization and the organization offers many social events for its members and fundraisers.
The organization is member owned and operated by a Board of Directors.
Members are admitted to the organizations twice a year in April and July. Dues are not prorated for July entry.
There a $25 application fee that is required when an application is submit.
Camping lots are assigned on seniority basis. Any open lots are available to existing members first.
There is a 10 day grace period for admittance to the organization after being voted in to allow for existing membership to object if there is relevant reason.
Lot sizes range from 30'x50' to 38'x50' depending on the row.
No roofs over campers or carports are allowed or permeant structures on lots.
Campers and boats can be stored on site year round with a minimal storage fee in the off season.
Camping season runs from May 1st - November 1st. Water is shut off in the offseason.
