About

Dr. Muhammad Majid received a BSc. in Computer Engineering with honors from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila, Pakistan, in 2005, an MSc in Data Communications with distinction, and a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2007 and 2011, respectively. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at International Islamic University, Islamabad, and heads the Affective Computing and Multimedia Engineering (ACME) research group. Previously, he served as a Tenured Professor at UET Taxila, where he founded the Signal, Image, Multimedia Processing and Learning (SIMPLE) research group. He received the Faculty Development Program Scholarship from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan, for his MSc and PhD Studies. He has published more than 120 research papers in international journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings with a cumulative impact factor of 200+ and 7800+ citations. He has supervised 7 PhD and 29 MS students and contributed to several nationally and internationally funded research projects. His research interests include Affective Computing, AI for Mental Health, Multimedia Signal Processing, and Image and Video Coding.
