Biography
Dr. Md. Munjure Mowla is an Expert Research and Innovation Engineer and Project Manager at IS-Wireless (ISRD SP z o. o), Poland, where he actively contributes to numerous cutting-edge European Union projects, including 6G-SANDBOX, MECON, STAND-ICT, 6G-BRICKS, FNS, MARSAL, NATWORK, SMARTY, EWOC, MPSEC5G, BRAINE, and others, funded by prestigious agencies such as SNS JU, EU H2020, EDF, ESA, among others. Since 2019, he has been a key player in writing research proposals across various domains of telecommunication engineering, demonstrating expertise in securing competitive grants and driving innovation in next-generation wireless technologies. His roles include developing concepts, designing algorithms, performing state-of-the-art analysis, evaluating system performances, and contributing to the drafting of research proposals. Dr. Mowla is deeply involved in 5G/6G projects as a project manager, technical leader, and researcher, while also supervising MS/Ph.D. students and coordinating innovative R&D initiatives.
Previously, Dr. Mowla served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Edith Cowan University (ECU), Australia, working on projects funded by the Australian Government Defence Science Center (DSC) Collaborative Research Grant. Additionally, he was a Project Coordinator for the SBIR project at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia, where he focused on advanced communication systems. He has also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Houston, Texas, USA, and the i2CAT Foundation, Barcelona, Spain.
Dr. Mowla completed his Ph.D. in Communication Engineering at ECU, Australia, as a recipient of the prestigious International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) from the Australian Government. During his doctoral studies, he was awarded the ECU Merit Top-Up Scholarship (top 5% of university students) and received a competitive grant from Avaya Inc. Limited (formerly Nortel Ltd.).
Before his current role, Dr. Mowla was a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Professional Engineer in the telecommunications industry from 2006 to 2010, gaining extensive hands-on experience with leading vendors such as Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Samsung, Sungil, Korean Telecom, and Kathrein. He also conducted technical visits to major Australian telecommunications companies, including Telstra and Vodafone.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Mowla has authored numerous publications in international journals, conference proceedings, and books. His research interests encompass beyond 5G/6G systems, Open Radio Access Networks (O-RAN), radio resource management, machine learning, millimetre-wave communications, software-defined radio, device-to-device (D2D) communication, cloud RAN, the Internet of Things (IoT), ad hoc networks, and unmanned aerial networks. He is an active reviewer for prominent journals, including IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking (TGCN), IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing (TSUSC), IEEE Access, IEEE Globecom, IEEE CCNC, ScienceDirect (Elsevier) Journal of Computer Network, ScienceDirect (Elsevier) Journal of Network and Computer Applications, ScienceDirect (Elsevier) Adhoc Networks, MDPI Sustainability, etc.
Dr. Mowla is member of IEEE and the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), contributing significantly to the academic community. He served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member and an Active Joint Secretary for various conferences. His extensive international exposure includes attending and presenting at IEEE conferences across the globe, including in Australia, Thailand, Japan, India, Bangladesh, Greece, Spain, and the USA.
