TMS 2014 conference was in San Diego, CA, the week of February 16-20, 2014. I presented seven research talks and was co-author on another seven talks. Of particular interest was presenting an invited talk in Mike Baskes honorary symposium, "Being Mike Baskes: Cloning Mike's Brain for the Future of Interatomic Potential Development." Another invited talk was on quantifying shear and shuffle contributions to twinning in HCP metals in the talk, "Understanding Twinning in HCP Metals: Everyday I'm Shuffling!" Another invited talk was on our recent work in solid state foaming of metal foams using mechanical alloying, "Expanding Solid State Foaming: Interparticle Expansion as a Means to Increasing Porosity in Metal Foams." Other talks highlighted research in nanocrystalline materials design, consolidation, and mechanical properties as well as efforts in lightweight high entropy alloys.
