Personal information

As a high school student I was already very interested in understanding how the world works and mathematics and physics were my favorite subjects. So, in 2000, I enrolled as a student of both mathematics and physics at Utrecht University. I first completed my Master's degree in mathematics in 2005. My Master's thesis was about Hitchin systems and written under the supervision of Bálasz Szendröi. A year later, I obtained my Master's in physics under the supervision of Gleb Arutyunov.

After completing my studies, I became a PhD student in the group of Gleb Arutyunov. The topic of my PhD research was integrability in the AdS/CFT correspondence. In 2010 I completed my thesis and successfully defended it on the 29th of March. In the fall of 2010 I started my first postdoc at the Albert Einstein Institute in Postdam in the group of Niklas Beisert. When he accepted a professorship at ETH Zürich, I joined his group there and worked on various aspects of Yangian symmetry, spin chains and the spectral problem in the AdS/CFT correspondence. Finally, in 2014 I moved to the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen to work with Charlotte Kristjansen. At the moment, I am working on defect conformal field theories with holographic duals.
