ICUBE is the premier student satellite program of any educational institution/university in Pakistan. The first satellite of this program named ICUBE-1 was successfully launched in November 2013. We have developed a satellite development, integration and test facility named Space Systems Lab (SSL) at Institute of Space technology for conducting various satellite projects including ICUBE-2, APSCO SSS-2A, SUPARCO's PNSS, ICUBE-N etc. Recently we have completed ICUBE-Q a lunar satellite that has been launched via Chinese Chang'E6 mission on 3rdMay 2024.
Focus of my core research is document image analysis. I have worked on word spotting for Latin ancient scripts. Recently more focus of our research has been on Urdu word spotting and character/ligature recognition.
Currently, more focus of my research is on hyper-spectral satellite image analysis. One is Hyper-spectral Satellite Image Analysis where we are interested in segmentation, saliency detection as well as HS image visualization.
In Hyper-spectral Document Image Analysis we are working on document forensic analysis, ink mismatch detection and signature extraction & verification. We have introduced a completely new research domain in this area related to writer identification through hyper-spectral image analysis. We have also created a dataset iVision-HSDI for hyperspectral document image analysis applications.
