Meet Dr. Safier

Dr. Jack M. Safier, O.D.

Dr. Safier was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, attending Harding, Hayes and Rayen schools. Upon graduation from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1975, Dr. Safier moved back to Youngstown and joined his father in practice. In addition to a private practice, the two doctors owned and operated Safeway Contact Lens Company, a wholesale contact lens fabrication facility, supplying the needs of doctors in a 6 state radius through the mid 1980's. Their practice specialized in the fitting of contact lenses and in the diagnosis and treatment of children's vision difficulties. Upon his father's retirement, Dr. Safier continues a pediatric and family focused practice.

Dr. Safier is Board Certified in the Treatment and Diagnosis of Ocular Diseases by The International Association of the Boards of Examiners in Optometry. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association. Dr. Safier is a past president of the Northeastern Ohio Optometric Association and the Ohio Vision Foundation. He is a consultant to many local schools, organizations, educators, psychologists, reading specialists and occupational therapists.

Dr. Safier has been happily married for 44 years, and has 2 daughters. His special interests include computers, gardening, jazz and spending time with his family.
