Dr C P Paul joined Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) in 1995. Prior to that he graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Vikram University, Ujjain, India and worked for two professionally managed public companies as a design engineer. He earned doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering on Laser Rapid Manufacturing of Engineering Components in 2005 and was Research Professor at theUniversity of Waterloo, Canada during 2006-2008. He is also Assistant Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI).

His present research interests include laser rapid manufacturing (LRM) for various engineering and prosthetic applications, process modelling and fibre laser welding. He is member of Institution of Engineers (India) and Indian Laser Association (ILA).

He has contributed chapters to three books and published over 100 research papers in these fields, over 50 of which in peer-reviewed international journals. He is currently leading a research group on LRM at RRCAT.
