Registered as a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Health Professionals Council of SA in May 1991 to the present time with qualification FCS (SA) Orth.
Awarded the Smith and Nephew prize for Orthopaedic Specialist in training 1991.
Orthopaedic Experience:
Extensive experience in all orthopaedic conditions at 1 Military Hospital and whilst training as a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Witwatersrand Medical School from 1987-1991.
Extensive experience both in full time hospital and private practice from 1991-1996 in Johannesburg with a particular emphasis on spinal problems.
Special fields of expertise
Medico-legal reporting in excess of 15,000 matters to present date. This includes opining on personal injury claims in Kenya (victims of military ordnance blasts left by the British Military), Upington, Knysna, Durban, Uitenhage, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town .
Extensive experience at giving expert testimony in judicial courts in personal injury claims.
Major anterior and posterior spinal surgery for traumatic and non-traumatic pathology.
Hobbies and Sports: Avid rock climber and adventurer. Dr Edelstein is a member of the the Mountain Club of South Africa.

Dr Edelstein is registered with the Health Professional's Council of South Africa. (HPCSA) His registration number is MP0258318. As at this time Dr Edelstein the HPCSA has not had reason to sanction Dr Edelstein in any way.
Dr Edelstein is a member of the Medical Protection Society. His registration number is 07/34308. Dr Edelstein has never required or solicited the services of the MPS to defend a claim of mal-practise or negligence.
Dr Edelstein is a member of SAMA (Reg No 24272).
Dr Edelstein is fully compliant with the basic conditions of labour Act and is registered with all the appropriate statutory bodies including the Dept of Labour Compensation Fund, SARS (Paye, VAT and income tax) and the Department of Labour (UIF).
