Dr. Jessica Carpenter
· I have been at Elgin Community College (ECC) since August 2003, and have taught Introduction to Psychology, Human Sexuality, Child Psychology, Human Growth and Development and Educational Psychology.
· I hold a doctorate in Adult and Higher Education from NIU and a MS in psychology with a minor in statistics from the University of Massachusetts- Amherst. My BS is also in psychology from the University of Illinois- Urbana-Champaign.
· I held a previous full time position at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas.
· I currently serve as the faculty union's senate's social media officer and the chair of the Faculty Development Committee. Additionally I serve on the team that reviews changes to administrative procedures, ECC's safety committee, ECC's Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the 403b/457b Team.
· My areas of research interest have included phonology and reading, academic misconduct (plagiarism), self-directed learning, active learning, multicultural infusion, writing across the curriculum and the use of AI in education.
