CHARCOAL ON WHITE DRAWINGS

You will learn:

  • Seeing the details of your source and divide it into more manageable "parts" in order to build your own drawings

  • Learning the concepts of adding white onto black paper

SUPPLIES FOR THIS VIRTUAL CLASS:

Grab a picture of an animal from the internet and print it in black and white.

  • Charcoal or drawing paper

  • Charcoal pencils and vine charcoal

  • White charcoal pencil

  • Kneaded eraser

  • Blending sticks

WHITE ON DARK CHARCOAL DRAWINGS

You will learn:

  • Seeing the details of your source and divide it into more manageable "parts" in order to build your own drawings

  • Learning the concepts of adding white onto black paper

SUPPLIES FOR THIS VIRTUAL CLASS:

Use the same photo of the animal used from the last class that is printed in black and white.

  • Dark drawing/charcoal paper (preferably black)

  • White chalk pastel, white charcoal pencil, charcoal pencils or vine charcoal

  • Kneaded eraser

  • Blending sticks

Black out poetry

You will learn:

  • How to let your imagination run wild when you combine the printed word and illustration

  • Learn how to create a composition — use the space you have to your advantage

SUPPLIES FOR THIS VIRTUAL CLASS:

  • An old book — You must be able to tear out pages and draw on them!

  • Your choice — markers, pencils, watercolor paints, oil pastels, ink pens, sharpies, acrylic paints, and more

  • Pencil and eraser

Dresden Neighborhood Color Wheel Drawing

You will learn:

  • The basics of the color wheel

  • How to divide the space for your Dresden Neighborhood

  • Use of complementary colors

SUPPLIES FOR THIS VIRTUAL CLASS:

  • Your choice — markers, pencils, watercolor, oil pastels

  • White paper - Cut into a square

  • Ruler

  • Pencil & eraser

  • Compass or a large and small round object to trace around

Black & White Notan

SUPPLIES:

You will learn:

  • Positive and negative space

  • Working with an art blade safely. SAFETY IS KEY FOR THIS LESSON.

Denim Painting

SUPPLIES:

  • Jeans or Denim Jacket

  • Paint brushes — assorted sizes and shapes

  • Acrylic Paints — Preferably a set of 6 to 12 colors, including white

  • Paper plates (use as a palette for the paint)

  • Plastic soda cups from fast food restaurants (for water and cleaning brushes)

  • Paper Towels (or rags)
