Methodology
It is said that there is difference in 'using' technology and 'integrating' technology. The below given image will make it crystal clear. The concept of Digital Portfolio is not possible if technology usage is random, arbitrary and an afterthought. It happens is technology usage is planned and purposeful. The teacher should consider details mentioned in this image carefully before planning digital portfolio for students. In short, methodology of Digital Portfolio takes care of all the points mentioned under 'Technology Integration' in this image.
Stey-by-step Explanation:
On the first day of the study, students are asked to write brief note (say for example, 'What is Literature?). This write-up will be given to students in fourth semester to reflect on their learning. The students have to reflect and write on it on their ePortfolio.
At the end of the unit discussion, an on-line quiz is conducted to check the progress of the students. The students are supposed to keep records of all such quizzes and mention it on their ePortfolio. This helps them realise their learning activity and how progressively they have improved their learning ability
The students are supposed to submit assignments and make presentations at the end of the term. It is mandatory to blog assignments and upload presentations on slideshare.net (powerpoint) and YouTube.com (video recordings). When students view their presentation vidoes and later on in sem 4, come back to what they prepared and how they presented, the entire process supports curriculum goals and learning objectives (as mentioned in WHY?).
At the end of Semester 4 (last semester), all students have following digital content already uploaded on various web platforms:
16 presentations on slideshare.net
16 video presentations on YouTube.com
16 assignments on Blogger.com
At the same time, students are constantly asked to post book / movie reviews, opinions on current affairs etc on their personal blogs. They are also instructed to write a post on novels / poems / plays / essays / critical essay which they have studied from Sem 1 of B.A. to Sem 4 of M.A. (Five years - 10 Semesters).
With this digital content which is created as a part of routine classroom activities wherein students engaged with, both the content as well as technology, they are ready to curate, classify, re-classify and modify it for digital portfolio.
We are using Google Sites as web platform for Digital Portfolio.Â
