I earned my Ph.D. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and minor in Statistics from the University of South Carolina. I joined the University of North Georgia (UNG) in the fall of 2020. I enjoy living in North Georgia, and feel UNG is a special place to teach and study with friendly, passionate, inquisitive and adventuresome students and teachers.

I always had a passion for teaching and can’t imagine a more rewarding career choice. Students regularly describe me as cheerful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and caring. Courses I have taught include Investments, Fundamentals of Finance, Debt Securities, Corporate Finance, Advanced Corporate Finance, Management of Financial Institutions and Portfolio Theory and Management at the undergraduate level. In addition, I have taught Debt Security Analysis and half of Quantitative Methods at the MSc level. I have also taught Financial Markets and Investments, Management of Financial Institutions, and Portfolio Theory and Management at the MBA level.

My research interest is in the general area of investments, with particular interests in the institutional procedures of trading and market microstructure that includes the timing and processing of information and its impact on security prices. I have published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Research, and Global Finance Journal. My 2016 publication in the JFR was selected as an Outstanding Articles in the Journal of Financial Research.

I have presented my research at the University of North Georgia, Southern Illinois University, University of Nevada - Reno, Colorado State University, University of Memphis, Texas Christian University, University of Texas - Arlington, University of South Carolina, Financial Management Association meetings, Southern Finance Association (SFA) meetings and Academy of Financial Services (AFS) meetings. Beyond presenting my work, I have served on program committees (FMA, SFA, SWFA) and served on best paper selection committees (AFS and SWFA).

In addition to service at professional meetings, I have served as a referee for the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and Managerial Finance. I was awarded the “Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing by the Journal of Corporate Finance in 2017.” Over 2019, I reviewed over 25 articles for academic conferences and various journals.

In my spare time, I enjoy living in North Georgia. I enjoy the outdoors, attending UNG events and playing the cello, piano and bass guitar.
