Ref: The Manchester & Salford Universities OTC 1898-2002 by Prof Harold Hankins

Many of the staff of the OTCs in the North West were drawn from units with North West District/ 42 Inf Bde. There were postings from DLOY to MSUOTC prior to 1992 but in 1992 there was a big drawn-down in the TA and in the North West this saw the disappearance of several units including 3CHESHIRE, 4KOB and 5/8KINGS with the formation of 4LANCS. DLOY was reduced to a squadron within the newly formed Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry. Several members of DLOY transferred to other units and some rebadged to RMLY but served on Extra Regimental Employment. There were also some with other cap badges, who transferred from service with DLOY to other units.

In all about 10 officers and ORs from DLOY settled with MSUOTC.

These included:-

Major Tustin

Major Patterson (paymaster)

SSgt Bligh

Sgt Steven (WRAC)

Cpl Bradshaw

Cpl Tierney

LCpl Blowe
