Project Director and primary writer for a $2.7 million federal National Professional Development grant from the U.S. Department of Education (2017-2023) - Project title: Increasing Teacher Capacity through Communities of Practice to Serve English Learners (the application received a perfect score with no cited weaknesses)
Co-Principal Investigator and a primary writer for a $1.4 million Nation Science Foundation Scholars grant (2023–2028) with the title Webster Educating STEM Teachers Bound for Success (WESTbound Success) and a $124,000 National Science Foundation Noyce Capacity-Building grant (2019-2020) with the title Laying the Groundwork for Dual-degree Pathways for Educating STEM Teachers Bound for Success
Initiated and directed the first U.S.-based academic program in the Republic of Uzbekistan with a finishing cohort of 114 students (2018-2019) in the master of arts in Teaching English as a Second Language program, leading to the foundation of the first U.S.-based university in Central Asia
Recipient of a Fulbright U.S. Scholars Grant to Uruguay (March-June 2016) - Project title: Case Studies of the Acquisition of English and Language Pedagogy Skills for Classroom Teachers in Ceibal en Inglés
Recipient of three Faculty Research Grants supplied by Webster University - Project titles: Using Reggio Emilia-Inspired Principles to Support Early Bilingual and Multilingual Language Learners and their Families (2019-2020 follow-up to a funded research trip in Reggio Emilia, Italy), Using Teleconference in the Teaching of English in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (June-July 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and Language Planning and Policy at the National Level in Uruguay: Ceibal en Inglés (July-August 2015 in Montevideo, Uruguay)
Selected for two English Language Specialist projects for the U.S. Department of State for virtual project with Honduras on pedagogy during the pandemic (2020) and Brazil on teaching English pronunciation (2021).
Selected as a member of the 2014 Global Leadership Academy cohort at Webster University (including training sessions in St. Louis, MO; Kansas City, MO; and Leiden, Netherlands)
Grant work in partnership with K-12 School Districts: On the partnership team for The Culturally Responsive Instruction for English Learners Project (Webster University in Kansas City and Kansas City Public Schools; 2012-2017; $1.9 million National Professional Development grant from the Department of Education) and on the partnership team for Math Success for ELLs (St. Louis Public Schools, Webster University, Pearson Education, the Center for Applied Linguistics, the International Institute, and the Magic House; 2011-2013; Missouri state grant)
