How the 1.25 ton 'Hells Bell' was lowered 'through' the lighting rig.

I got lots of questions from people who came to see the show on how we dropped the bell through the solid ceiling of par cans. Pretty simple really, in the blackout before "Hells Bells" I'd climb onto the truss, Tommy the set guy on the floor would run the motor pickle for the 2t hoist. On the rig at blackout I'd flip open the 'trapdoor' (4 x bars of ACL's that would hinge open), & signal to Tommy to lower the bell about 10ft, I'd flash the light to stop him and close the trapdoor. The bell would lower more to start the song, & Brian would hit it a few times. At the end of the song we'd do the reverse, all in blackout, no headset or computer motor controllers. Two arms, a flashlight and a pickle motor controller. Diz.
