Molecules, Synaptic Transmission, and Behavior

Our lab is interested in molecular mechanisms underlying membrane fusion at the synapse. Proper function of the nervous system requires exquisite control over the exocytosis and retrieval of synaptic vesicles, but we still don’t really understand how this process works. To explore this question, we study several critical proteins that control synaptic vesicle fusion and endocytosis in the model organism C. elegans using optical, genetic, biochemical, and behavioral approaches.

Positions Open

A postdoctoral position is available to study the molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic transmission at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. We seek candidates who are interested in using C. elegans as a system for both molecular manipulation and quantitative in vivo imaging of synaptic structure and function. A strong background in cell biology or neuroscience is desirable (PhD required). Salary Range is: $58,500 - $66,538
