Obviously the build quality is exceptionally low cost, I used cardboard for everything and simple paper glue to affix it all in place.
These two pictures are prototypes for a larger project I'm planning involving back-lit photos using LEDs.
I really have no funny space-themed interpretation for this one. These pictures were gifts I made over the holidays for friends and family.
The build included the use of a 555 Timer in an astable setting for strobing. The first image is of Bob Dylan with flashing hypno-eyes for a friend who harbors something of an obsession for him. The second is of my father's aircraft, the good ship Poppa-Alpha-Foxtrot with red and green nav-lights and a red strobe beacon on the vertical stabilizer.
From here I plan to make a more ambitious version with some simple lights and things. I want to create something akin to the simple LED posters you often see sold at malls or on the internet. These posters are often pretty low tech involving an array of 5mm LEDs and using some simple strobing.
