The band was born out of leader Chuck Dinsfriend's love for improvisational music, jazz and classic rock. He first carefully selected songs that were accessible to music lovers, while emphasizing extended jazz inspired solos. Finding likeminded musicians fulfilled Dinsfriend's vision for the band. The result has become an eclectic mix of classic rock and jazz tunes, arranged specifically for the unique style of the Catz. "I wanted to create a band specifically for me to improvise on my guitar! I had to pick songs I could sing, that had lyrics or a story I felt a connection with, that were hits, that would strike a chord in peoples hearts." -cd
Originally dubbed Freddy Williams and His Orchestra, with the advent of our new studio in Cheshire, Oregon (graciously donated by our very own bass player, Mike Davis Sr.), we changed the name to the Cheshire Catz.
