1- Create a Google Document and share it with your Mentor.
2 - The Final Reflection essay of approximately 500 words, written in first person, double-spaced and proofread. In your essay, using specific items from your portfolio as support and examples, you will briefly describe how you have grown in the last 4 years: what you have learned and how do the artifacts in the portfolio demonstrate your learning. Elaborate on the elements you chose to include in your portfolio and explain how they relate to or show you as a high school senior. Consider the audience for this essay, who are your writing to? Include your teachers as well as administrators and college boards or employers.
In this final essay support your ideas with examples from your portfolio. For example, when discussing an academic artifact from English, you might describe how working on revising a particular assignment helped you better understand how to write for different audiences, or in Math, a time when you had to think critically, you might describe how an assignment challenged your preconceived ideas about a topic and how it related to your real life experiences. Please clearly refer to these artifacts in the essay.
As you write and shape your essay, think about how best to organize it. Does it make more sense to order the information chronologically? From most to least important point? From struggles to breakthroughs? In other words, don’t just free associate. Organize your essay into a logical order that best fits the points you are trying to make.
