II am proud of having been brought up in a wonderful musical family, in Michigan. I owe my parents so much, for bringing me into the world of music. My father, was a violinist. My mother was a pianist and piano teacher. They both started me, on playing the violin and the piano, at a very young age. I started the piano. since my mother was a piano teacher.
I discovered my love of singing, after the piano. Many summers, my parents and I visited my grandparents, in Ohio, and I remember standing in their backyard, on an old tree stump and sang. And, to think, I didn't even have any accompaniment.
When I was in my 20s , I was chosen to be Miss Auto Fair, for an Auto Show, in Michigan.
As years went by, I continued my singing. I was happy to be with the Lowell Showboat, for three years, in Michigan, and was in their chorus. Along with my singing, I added acting. I was in many local plays, musical and non musical. I was in the operatic production, "Carmen", in Michigan, as an extra.
When I moved to California, I continued with my music. I met a wonderful singer, Jay Meyer - (background singer for musicals, Ray Conniff Singers, Sportsmen Quartet on the Jack Benny Show, Disneyland Revue, etc.). He encouraged me and ended up as my mentor. I owe a lot to him. He became a dear friend.
I sang for a Telethon, in Los Angeles, California, and met Bandleader Lawrence Welk, due to Jay Meyer and my Telethon performance. What an honor. They are both gone, now, and I miss them both.
Several years ago, I had the enjoyable time portraying "Dorothy" of Wizard of Oz, for a show, in Southern California.
I had done my own first show on stage, where I sang more than one song, and had a monologue, in Southern California.
I had a small part, for a musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie", in San Diego. California.
Several years ago, I had the opportunity to be in a fashion show. in Tombstone, Arizona. I wore my 1800s garment.
