For several years my role was to oversee and implement the components of the UCLA Early Academic Outreach Program (a pre-college academic preparation program) at eight comprehensive high schools. During my last year I was also responsible to provide services to two middle schools, and the local community college. I also was an undergraduate admissions reader for UCLA.
During my time with UCLA my advising team and I served a cohort of about 700 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. I have collaborated with and presented to over 10,000 counselors, teachers, administrators, parents, students, the English Learner/ Migrant Program, the AERO institute, Antelope Valley College, AVID, Link Crew and Rising Stars college preparation program. I have served as secretary and chair for the Antelope Valley Higher Education Consortium (AVHEC). Furthermore, I served on the Parent Symposium Committee for the High Desert Alliance of Black School Educators for two years. These organizations all share EAOP’s goal of promoting student achievement and upward social mobility in the Antelope Valley.
While serving as a chair of the consortium, we planned the first "Plan Your Future" symposium. Due to our collaborative's positive achievements we were asked to present at the Building Educational Success thru Collaborating Conference. The presentation and workshop schedule can be accessed by visiting the AVHEC group website ( AVC page). Pictures from the event can be accessed by visiting the workshops and pictures page. In addition we presented a poster session at the WASC Academic Resource conference.
I truly love working with people and empowering them with the tools and resources they need to achieve their goals. Nothing wakes me up earlier in the morning or keeps me up later at night. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Early Academic Outreach Program Overview
EAOP helps high school students chart a strategic course to higher education. A high percentage of selected EAOP students attending the full service high schools in the Antelope Valley hope to become first-generation college graduates. EAOP empowers the students and parents it works with by providing them with vital information and academic counseling.
In the absence of EAOP, many otherwise excellent prospective college students might not receive the active guidance they need in order to make informed choices about their futures. Our ultimate goal is to help students prepare for the university admissions process, particularly at UC and CSU schools. To this end, EAOP provides academic advising, help with test preparation, and a broad range of other academic enrichment opportunities. These activities are conducted to the mutual benefit of students, high schools, communities, and universities.
