Dhirendra Kumar

I am a staff Scientist at National Institute of Environmental and Health Sciences (NIEHS) at RTP, USA. I completed my Ph.D. entitled "Computational analysis of mass spectrometry based proteomics data to reveal novel translation products" from CSIR-IGIB & University of Pune, India under the supervision of Dr. Debasis Dash. My research interests include multi-omics data integration to understand epigenetic regulation of gene expression, developing computational tools for MS/MS proteomics data analyses, and proteogenomics for finding new genes and isoforms. Few highlights of my research experiences are as follows.

  • Staff Scientist at NIEHS with research on proteogenomics of Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs)

  • Postdoc Fellow at NIEHS with project on functional characterization of Bivalent Chromatin in development and in cancers

  • Ph.D. (2010-2015) from CSIR-IGIB as Department of Science and Technology (India)-INSPIRE Fellow with thesis on novel proteogenomic tools for prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes

  • Endeavour Research Fellow (Apr. 2014-Oct. 2014) with Dr. Jason Mulvenna at QIMR-Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Brisbane, Australia

  • Master of Science (Bioinformatics) from Panjab University, Chandigarh. The top ranked university among all Indian educational Institutions

  • Proficient in PERL and R programming
