Welcome!

Amateur Radio is an integral part in making this bike ride and all the previous rides a success by providing a public service radio communications network for safety and logistics.

This site has been created for the dissemination of logistics and documentation in support of the DFW area MS 2-Day bike ride.  Most all answers to your questions can be found here that will help you be a successful operator during your time you support this event and any other along the way.

We are thankful that you will be spending your time and resources to help us support the battle against MS.

The What I Need to Know and the FAQ pages will be very important to you for aiding in your success while preparing and volunteering your time with the ride.

Special Note for 2024 - Two Day, May 4th and 5th

Bike MS : Round-Up Ride has 100% new routes for 2024.

We will begin in Mansfield, traveling to the overnight in Glen Rose, with Day 2 ending at Panther Island.

This will require your continued dedication and the welcoming of many new operators and repeaters!

We are trying to consolidate signup methods between our group and the MS Society to ease the burden on our volunteers and to increase continuity.

Our Role

Radio operators from DFW have been supporting communications for this event for more than 20 years. The communications support relates to supporting the logistics behind the event, as well as health and safety of the volunteers, staff, and riders.

This is a two-day event, typically requiring 50+ radio operators each day.  Volunteers are not required to work both days, but typically, returning volunteers find the experience to be challenging and enjoyable, and most DO work both days.

Assignments are varied, with stationary assignments such as rest stops, to mobile operations in SAG vehicles, tour official and logistics vehicles (Shadows).  As this is an outdoor functions covering over 150 miles over two days, we also monitor the weather an report conditions as necessary through our communications network.

We operate under an R.A.C.E.S./A.R.E.S. Net structure, via multiple radio Nets.  We typically have a Tactical, Resource, and SAG net simultaneously.
