Message about Grades:
Every student’s overall letter grade will show as a “P” in Skyward until after our first Test (currently scheduled for the first week of October). Between now and then, we will focus on developing deep conceptual understanding of the learning goals for Topics 1-3. Students will have frequent checks of their understanding, with specific feedback for improvement. Learning math takes time, patience and practice. It is very important to focus on growth during these first 6 weeks as opposed to chasing points for a grade.
I realize this may make some students or parents uncomfortable. If you want specific insight into how your student is doing in class, please ask to see their journal where they keep daily work, homework, notes and understanding checks. This journal and your student’s OneNote digital notebook will give you a very clear picture of what they are learning in the class. You can also contact me directly (email is best) if you have questions specific to your student as I will be monitoring their progress closely.
