Introduction:
· Forecast – a sentence that previews the structure of the document
· Remind – Remind them that you did the study, what you did, and when. 1 sentence.
· Hedge – make clear that these findings are tentative and will be followed up with a formal analysis later.
Findings:
· 1-4 findings, preferably 2 or more
· Can be negative (some problems) or positive (things they are doing well)
· Should probably be hedged.
· Each finding should have
o A finding (claim) in one sentence, highlighted.
o 1 or more reasons why you believe this claim to be true (think patterns)
o At least two pieces of evidence per reason – triangulated (i.e., they come from different places and confirm each other).
o Evidence can be quotes, incidents, or artifact features
o If evidence is sensitive, comment it: let me know it’s just for my eyes.
Next Steps:
· Let them know what you’ll do next (analyze)
· Give them a timeframe.
· Hedge.
