VARSITY HEAD COACH : Clare Kavanagh 

Raised in Colorado, Coach K (Clare) started her field hockey right here in Denver. She started playing in middle school, then played in high school for Cherry Creek. During those years she trained in the NFH Futures Program from 2007-2014 and was selected to the National Field Hockey Futures Championships in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. From there she went on to play at John’s Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

During her college career she primarily played center midfield and forward. Her senior season Hopkins Field Hockey won regular season, earning the right to hosted the Centennial Conference Championships for the first time since 2003, and the first time since 2008 to qualify for the championship title. Clare still holds top 20 records for the program in: assists, goals, and single season points. Junior and senior year she led the conference in goals and points. Individual accolades include 2014 Hopkins Rookie of the year, 4xCentennial Conference FH Player of the Week, 2016 Second Team All-Centennial Conference, and in her senior season (2017) she was the only unanimous selection to First Team All-Centennial and recognized as First Team All-Region.

Clare has coached since 2015 and started coaching high school teams in 2018. Fall 2018 she was JV Coach at Creek. Then she found her way to East Angels! In 2019 she was the JV Head Coach and in Summer of 2020 she accepted the position as Head of the Program and Head Varsity Coach. Fall 2021 East Angels Varsity made playoffs for the first time in 5 years! in Fall of 2022 East went to the quarter finals for the first time in 8 years!
