I have lived in Denver since 2008 and joined Denver Middle School in 2015. Prior to teaching at Denver I taught math at New Hampton Middle School.
I am originally from Dubuque where I attended Hempstead High School and Clarke College. It was at Clarke where I met my wife Emily (yes, Denver High School's Emily Huff). Emily and I have a son entering 5th grade, Eddie, and a very energetic beagle named Bagel.
Prior to coming to Denver I served as an officer in the Navy, spending most of that time in Virginia Beach. Although I enjoyed my time in the Navy, Emily and I eventually decided that we wanted to live a quieter life closer to family. So we moved from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Denver, Iowa where we bought a home and Emily began teaching at Denver High School. I attended UNI to obtain my teaching license and eventually earned my master's degree in math education, with an emphasis on teaching the middle grades.
When I'm not at Denver Middle School I enjoy doing simpler things such as throwing the football or playing basketball with Eddie, working around my home and yard, watching movies, and playing old-school video games.
