If you read this material - here are a few items that were missing -
The National Park Service apparently staffs a Type 6 wildland engine
in Hitouchi every summer
Crescent City has a big four bay station downtown - and they have an
aerial - this was totally missing info
CDF has 2 stations in the county - 1 is downtown Crescent City - which
is very strange but makes sense in a geographical sense - the downtown
CDF has station has 3 yearround employees I think - plus seasonals in
the summer to staff a CDF Ty3 engine with a crew of 3 24/7
The other CDF station is to the south in Klamath - it is open just in
the summer with a crew of 3 on 1 ty 3 engine - they might get a Amador
contract to stay open in winter
If the Sun Star area is 1 hour from Gasquet - and Gasquet has to go to
Oregon to get there - and there is a fire dept in Oregon which is only
10 or 15 minutes from Sun Star - then may I suggest that the Oregon FD
should cover the Sun Star CA area?
The report mentions that Oregon has 2 FDs within 5 miles of the Del
Norte County border - but neither has any interaction with the
California FDs
USFS runs 2 engines from Gasquet in the summer - that is 10 people on
duty every day all summer long - no mention of that at all - of course
they would all get shot if they went to a building fire in a type 3
engine with SCBA which is identical to calfire type 3 engines which go
to bld firs all summer long
The bad Indians at Klamath have a big tribal building and casino /
hotel - but no ambulance and no fire truck apparently - which is why
Klamath FD is mad at them I guess - maybe the Indians will pay for the
Amador Contact for the south CDF engine - that might work but they are
like 5 miles from the casino in the middle of nowhere
The airport apparently has a fire station but I have not uncovered any
info about it - it was not in the report but it showed up on the maps
in the report
There are only 2 FT FD employees in the county IIRC - the Crescent
City Chief and maybe the Fort Dick Chief - (but CDF, NPS, State Prison
FD, and USFS probably have 20 FT yearround employees - and they have
maybe 30 summer staff)
