Classroom Management Plan

As an effective classroom manager my goals are to prevent and respond to misbehavior, us classroom time effectively, create lessons that engage students minds and imaginations. Furthermore, make instruction the primary activity in the classroom with limited attention to misbehavior. While research, I was able to understand why we as educators should have an effective lesson plan, classroom rules and time management. During the first week of school I will introduce the following:

1) Classroom rules.

2) Makers of the rules.

3) The reason for each rule and why.

On the first day of school I will be teaching 9th grade computer application. My objectives for the week will be:

A. Students will learn rules and regulation.

B. Students will describe rules in own words

C. Students will apply rules.

D. Students will demonstrate rules.

Creating an effective learning environment involves organizing classroom activities, instruction, and the physical classroom to provide for effective use of time; to create a happy, productive classroom; and to minimize disruptions. In other to accomplish my goals for the week, I need to make sure I have objective displayed on monitor or board daily. God has created us to functions within certain laws and norms (Psalm 19:7-11).

Classroom Rules

During the course of the week my 9th graders will learn the classroom rules. The classroom rules are:

1. Respect yourself, your classmates, and your instructor.

2. Be in your seat with supplies ready to learn when the bell rings

3. Please do not interrupt the class with person equipment problems while directions are being given.

4. Re-frame from chewing gum, eating or drinking in computer lab.

5. Raise your hand if you have a question, quietly.

6. Treat all equipment with respect.

7. Read student handbook rules that will be displayed in class, on all four was of the computer lab. See “Student Handbook” pages 29-30 on school website, www.wogca.org

As a class, the students will read and demonstrate each rule and give examples of the classroom rules.

Makers of the Rules

The rules are created by administration and lead teachers. Teachers are allowed to re-word the rules to fit their classroom. The principal and assistant principal look over the rules each year to determine if any new rules need to be added or removed. The handbook is passed on to the lead teachers for review. The lead teachers will then set up a meeting with all teachers to discuss the rules for the student handbook. The lead teachers know that “the most effective approach to classroom management is effective instruction but without effective rules it will be hard to have effective instruction.

The Reason for each Rule and Why

The reason for each rule is to prevent behavior problems or to respond to existing behavior problems so as to reduce their occurrence in the future . Also, it will hold each student liable for their action. Rule helps “highlight prevention of misbehavior, based on the theory that effective instruction itself is the best means of avoiding discipline problems .

First, rule number one will forbids interrupting others or speaking out of turn, teasing or laughing at others, bullying, fighting, and so on . Second, rule number two will show students that having their tools for class and being on time is important for everyday life. Third, rule number three will show that even when problems accrue there is a time and place for everything. Fourth, rule number four will teach student how to take care of the computer lab. Fifth, rule number five is a rule against calling out or getting out of one’s seat for assistance without permission ). Sixth, rule number six will help students from tearing up, mistreating and vandalizing the computer lab. Finally, rule number seven will show students other rules, that are not listed, and where they can find them, so they can be prepared for any rules that they may encounter during the course of the week.

In conclusion, a healthy classroom environment cannot be created if students do not respect teachers or teachers do not respect students. One thing I do in my class is not treat it like a classroom. I teach technology classes and I treat my students like they are my employees and I am their boss. I have students that are managers and supervisors. They help me to make sure our company in class is working well and everyone follows the rules. Finally, one of my own rule, for myself, in class is to always admit when I am wrong, and apologize to the students when I said something they did or did not do.
