Getting there

Once arriving in Benito Juarez Airport, make sure you buy an authorized taxi ticket to your hotel. Authorized taxis are a little pricier than street cabs, but they are a lot safer and still very reasonably priced. A taxi ride from the airport to your hotel would range between MX$300 to $400, depending on the location. Make sure that you are getting the standard, "Sedan" service if you are less than 4 people, since the "Ejecutivo" option is more expensive.
Although Mexico City is pretty safe, we strongly discourage the use of non-authorized taxis at the airport, since it is not only unsafe, but also illegal. You will know if your taxi is authorized if you need to buy a ticket from a stand.
Getting around
Accessing Ciudad Universitaria is fairly unproblematic by Metrobus (line 1) or Subway (line 3). The Metrobus station "Centro Cultural Universitario" is at 12 minute walking distance from La Unidad de Posgrados.
Accessing El Colegio de México is easy by cab or Uber.
This site will help you estimate cab fares in Mexico City. As we said, taxis are inexpensive, but it is safer that you take the slightly pricier "sitio" taxis (i.e. from taxi stands) rather than flagging them on the street. Uber is also a safe option and usually cheaper than "sitio" taxis.
We arranged transportation from the following locations to the venues on the three days of the Workshop:
A. Entrance of Hotel El Diplomático
B. Entrance of Hostal Cuija, Coyoacán
Notice that there will be a limited number of seats, as we only have two vans (one for each location, 9 seats per van). The vans will be at the designated pick-up spot at 8:00am sharp, and will leave at 8:10 . We will not provide drop-off service back to the hotels.
A note regarding the recent zika and chikungunya outbreaks: there are no confirmed cases of these diseases in Mexico City, since the high altitude and the lack of humidity are not hospitable to the mosquito that spreads these viruses. If you plan to visit other states in Mexico you should take heed of the CDC's travel warnings.
Although Mexico City is fairly safe, please be prudent, i.e. try not to walk alone at night; keep an eye at your belongings at all times; remember only to use Sitio Taxis or Uber; if you need to use an ATM, do it during daylight hours and, if possible, use those located inside shops and malls rather than on the street (there is an ATM inside El Colegio de México).

Al llegar al Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez, deberás comprar un boleto de taxi autorizado. Los taxis autorizados son un poco más caros que los taxis de la calle, pero son más seguros y siguen siendo económicos. Un viaje en taxi desde el aeropuerto al hotel cuesta entre MX$300 y MX$400, dependiendo de la ubicación. Asegúrate de comprar el boleto para taxi "Sedan", si viajan menos de 4 personas, porque el taxi "Ejecutivo" es considerablemente más caro.
Aunque la Ciudad de México es bastante segura, recomendamos no usar taxis no autorizados en el aeropuerto, pues no sólo es menos seguro, también es ilegal. Sabrás si tu taxi es autorizado porque requerirás comprar un boleto en una cabina.
Cómo transportarse
El acceso a Ciudad Universitaria es sencillo por Metrobús (línea 1) o Metro (línea 3).

Este sitio te ayudará a estimar las tarifas del taxi. Como mencionamos antes, los taxis en la Ciudad de México son bastante económicos, pero es más seguro que tomes siempre taxis "de sitio", es decir, de locales fijos, en lugar de pararlos en la calle. Uber también es una opción segura y a menudo más económica que los taxis de sitio.

Tuesday, June 21st: Early comers, join us for a celebratory mezcal and dinner at Corazón de Maguey (map) in Coyoacán. We will be there as from 6 pm. Here are some more pictures of Coyoacán and information in Spanish.
Saturday, June 25th (brochure): Visit to the Anthropology Museum (map), lunch at Hostería de Santo Domingo, and a stroll around downtown Mexico City (Historic Center). We will gather at 9:15 am at the entrance of the museum.
Please note that the conference fees do not cover any of the activities or meals of the social program.
