This bus was hit by a dead ash tree on December 20th, 2012 just West of Crockett Highway on Gorman road near Blissfield, Michigan.
The bus windshield was smashed. The log clearly shows the trails of the ash borer larvae.
The log rolled across the top of the bus, smashing windows to the rear and injuring five students.
Classic snapping in half of trunk for ash borer killed trees. This is what makes the ash tree plague so much more dangerous than the era of the Dutch elm disease.

52-year-old Steve Roussel was killed March 23rd, 2017 when a tree fell on his bus in Avon, Connecticut. Don't know for sure what kind of tree it was, but the one in videos of this incident looks more like an oak.

If the tree is big enough, it can completely flatten a bus. Fortunately no one was aboard this new bus in Dominica.

Different parts of the same tree crushed the car and the rear of the bus. The driver of the car was very fortunate not to have been killed.

There are plenty more tree/school bus accidents, but this is enough to get the point across. After thinking about it, I realized that the school buses travel almost every county road 5 days a week. They are at high risk in ash borer territory.
