Thank you for visiting my website. I retired from thirty-seven years of public school music education as of July, 2014, having taught high school band and music theory for thirty years, and then for the last seven as the pre-K-12 Supervisor of Music for the Westport, CT Public Schools.
I began my career in 1977 in Portland, ME as Tubist with the Portland Symphony Orchestra and Portland Brass Quintet, Band Director at Portland High School (and also at Deering HS in my last two years), and adjunct faculty at the University of Southern Maine.
Since retirement, I have been part-time faculty at The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, directing the Wind Ensemble, coaching Chamber Music, teaching low brass lessons, and administering the Department's festival participation. in addition, I have been adjunct faculty at Central CT State University, supervising their music education students' student teaching experiences in the field.
Recent work since my public school retirement has also included...
...serving as Northern Region Director, then Chair of the Student Affairs Commission for the Connecticut Music Educators Association.
...working with the tubas and low brass at Northwest Region #7, Winsted, Canton HS, and other local high schools,
...activity as a private instructor of tuba, euphonium and trombone, low brass clinician,
...and as an active conductor of festival bands and a school bands clinician. Most recently (March, 2019 - pre-covid-era), I had the honor of conducting the Massachusetts Junior Western District Band (grades 7-9) at the University of Massachusetts, for the Massachusetts Music Educators Association.

More information about my background and experience is available under the "Showcase" tab.
Thank you for your interest - I look forward to working with you and your students!
Active as a tubaist, I perform with Capitol Winds, Harmonious Brass, Resonance Brass Quintet, and the MA-based Fanfare Brass. Other activity has included online "virtual" recordings for various organizations, as well as socially-distanced in-person recording for holiday services. I have also produced several videos of pre-school hit tunes for children, and this warm-up video (YouTube to the left). Fun!
