The Doctrine of Our Faith
(1 John: 4: 7-21) Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God. And everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. In this has the love of God been shown in our case, That God sent His only-begotten Son into the World that we may live through Him. In this is the love, not that we have loved God, but that He has first loved us, and sent His Son a propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God has so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God in Him. In this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, even so are we also in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear brings punishment. And he who fears is not perfected in love. Let us therefore love, because God first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For how can he who does not love his brother, whom he sees, love God, whom he does not see? And this commandment we have from Him, that He who loves God should love his brother also.
DEVOTION TO MARY
Luke 1:46-55
My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my savior,
Because he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaid,
for behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed,
Because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name;
And his mercy is from generation to generation
toward those who fear him.
He has shown might with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and has exalted the lowly.
The hungry he has filled with good things
and the rich he has sent empty away.
He has given help to Israel his servant,
mindful of his mercy –
As he promised our fathers –
toward Abraham and his descendants forever.
St. Anthony's Prayer
O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your words, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me (request). The answer to my prayer may require a miracle. Even so, you are the Saint of Miracles. O genital and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweat Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours.
Amen, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be.
Most Holy Apostle, St. Jude
Most holy apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone. Make use I implore you, of that particular privilege given to you, to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever. I promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to greatly encourage devotion to you. Amen
This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
