About Me


David Daniel was born in Birmingham Alabama on January 13, 1958. His first musical influences were the Country,Rock, Rhythm and Blues his mother played constantly on the radio. In the mid-sixties he was taken to the "Shower of Stars" concerts and knew right away that music was to be a big part of his life. In 1969 after writing a "ton of lyrics" David saved his money up from working as an usher for the Birmingham A's at Rickwood Field and bought his first guitar. Just three years later he was playing parties and sneaking into bars to play with local bands Creeque, the Swingin' Medallions, Eugene and the Mishaps, Nostalgia and many others. The mid-seventies were filled with more opportunities as David worked on numerous recording sessions for Don Mosely at Sound of Birmingham and Kenny Wallis at Prestige Recording Studios.In 1977 David went to work teaching guitar lessons at Fretted Instruments.During that time, He met and jammed with the likes of Glenn Tolbert,Ricky Skaggs,Herb Trotman,Roy Clark,The Oak Ridge Boys,Buck Trent,Harold Bradley,Roland White,Jim Connor,The Homestead Act,and Emmylou Harris(who played at the Parliament House).He entered and won the local KFC songriting contest and won with the song "The Way I Love You". David toured during the late seventies with Oakley Hill, Hank Williams Jr.,The Coasters, The Drifters,and others before moving to L.A. in 1980.

There he studied jazz with Herb Ellis,Joe Diorio,Tommy Tedesco,Tal Farlow, Howard Roberts, and played with such notables as Valentine Kay, Gene Redden,The Jeff Enloe Orchestra, Jay Sessum, Danielle Alexander,and the Alvino Rey Orchesrta featuring Johnny Desmond. David returned to Birmingham in 1984 and resumed teaching and playing local shows as a sideman with acts like Chubby Checker and Roy Orbison. The next decade and a half was spent working with local acts: Joe Ceravolo and Nitelife, Bob Cain and The Canebreakers,Randy Glenn and Dixie Gold, David Amaral and the Bar Review,Tim McCool and Southern Exposure, Ona Watson and Champagne, The Larry Russo Trio, Chuck King, Jack Marshall's funeral and Ragtime Band, Randy Branch, Network ,and many, many others. The past fifteen years David has recorded on over 100 projects and now lives in South Carolina, teaching guitar and playing with "probably the best band of this type, ever" Summerdaze Band(www.summerdazeband.com), a show and dance band featuring beach and disco Music as well as music from the past 50 years.They have a new single,"Carolina Beach Motion" that is climbing the charts in Myrtle Beach. In April 2007 he was invited to play with Lamon Records artist GalFriday, a contemporary country/Christian rock band.     Well,it has been quite some time since my last update! I have done a load of repairs and builds since 2010 and have relocated to Guntersville,Alabama. After a lot of prayerful consideration, I now have a store!
