1970 240z
I picked this up in 1989 for $700. Finally found a pic actually a pic of a pic! Only one I could find.
Also a pic of my dads car he bought brand new in 73. That's me when I was little. Pic Circa 1976:
1973 240z
This was my first Z since I sold my last Z back in 96. I picked this up in June of 2006. I paid $3100 for the car and was able to get the HRE wheels for an additional $1000. I had to have them!
Sadly she reached her demize. I won't get into that, other than insurance paid me $5000 for the car and for I was able to keep the car for $250! Almost made wrecking it worth while. Well, not really.
1973 240z
Picked this up sometime in 2007 for $3500. This car had tons of money in it. Close to 20K! I was able to get all the details from the guy who built her. Fortuneatly, it wasn't my money!
I spent a few years enjoying her, spent a little money with a few minor upgrades and sold her in 2010 for $7000! I wasn't fond of the color, plus there was no A/C. I could have easily spent another $7000 in those two items alone. With that in mind I sold the car. My entire family was mad at me. They really liked the car.
Sadly she too met her demise. Two weeks after I sold her the 17 year old kid I sold her to killed the car. I tried my hardest to buy it back but his insurance company would not work with them or me. He made money on the deal. He insured it for 10K!
WARNING GRAPHIC CAR DEMISE PICTURES!
Early 1974 260z
I scored this gem in 2011. Paid $550 some rust, but nothing bad. This will be a future turbo build. Sold for $1300 in summer of 2013. Thought I wasn't into Z cars. What was I thinking.
Came with new tires, nice grant steering wheel, drilled rotors, 4x4 calipers up front, new carpet set, complete window seal kit, new carpet, lowering springs, 1" sway bars, Snider Stage III cam which I recently found out was trashed, quick ratio 280zx 5 speed, urethane front aim dam, new mirrors (Italian) forget the brand, and I'm sure other stuff i'm forgeting!
1978 280z
I picked this up for my son in 2010. I paid $700. Good amount of rust, but nothing to bad. (Sold for $1700)
She is an auto. Air works now and drives as smooth as can be. He pitched a fit when I was teaching him to drive and was like I'll never drive stick! Needless to say he can now drive stick and wants it coverted. He's going to have to wait on that for bit.
Motivating him is like waking the dead. I refuse to do the work and I think he will take care of it better if he has a vested interest. It's been slow we've cleaned and sealed the tank, basic tune up, fixed the air and have started to replace the fender. Fixed the huge rust hole under the windshield cowl.
Never make money on cars you plan to keep. My son didn't want to work on it, didn't like driving it and was simply ungrateful. I wasn't in the mood to work on her so I sold her in Summer of 2013.
1988 300zx Turbo
I picked this up in January 2012. I paid $1000. Much more rust then I would have liked. (Sold in Jan of 2013 for $1100)
I've been playing with her for the most part. I could part her out and make some money but I've enjoyed the new styling and performance. She runs really now after the tune up. There is a laundary list for A-Z that needs to be addressed.
I'll keep at it for awhile until I decide what I want to do. Was a blast to drive!
1973 Datsun 240z Vela Ross (Ferrari Clone)
I'll just say I picked this for a song in the Winter of 2012 and sold it summer of 2013 for a very nice turn around. It was lots of fun to drive, got lots of looks and was pretty quick too. The story was the guy that built her ended up getting a divorce over the car because he spent so much time and money on her. With the profit, I bought my son a nice used 4X4!
