Darlington County Fire offers all classes in order for new members as a part of "recruit program" in approximately six months. Most classes meet twice a week and are fairly flexible with students.
Auxiliary members are the support of the District, they fill the ranks of Chaplaincy, Finance, Community Affairs and other much needed specialty positions that are not fire ground related.
Our Student Firefighter Program is designed for the future firefighters of the area. The program allows students who are 14 years old through 18 years old to participate and train with people their age, participate in ride along days with the firefighters, and other great opportunities. Students must be enrolled in a school program and maintain a C average in all courses which is checked every report card. The students are allowed to take courses through the South Carolina Fire Academy and receive certifications upon their 18th birthday. The Students meet twice a month at DCFD HQ (137 N. Center Rd. Hartsville) on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 6pm-8pm.
