I'm drawn to wood with distinctive grain and faults, often partly decayed, which can create beautiful 'spalted' patterns. These features often inpsire the form of my sculptures.
As well as sculptures, I make functional household items like bowls, tealight holders and lamp bases with organic and tactile qualtities.
I also take on commissions for bespoke joinery work, including kitchens, displays, plinths and cases.
Tools that I use include chainsaws, angle grinders, lathes, bandsaw, router and a variety of hand tools.
Although I mostly work in wood I have also done projects in natural stone, and if a project is suited to a different material I'm quick to adapt my skills to use it.
