Danny continually earns local and national acclaim for his work as guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, song-writer, and arranger. He has won numerous awards for his musicianship as a competitive guitarist, mandolin player, and collaborator.
Danny's mom first taught him chords at age 12 and soon after he started lessons under the mentorship of his older brothers and Venezuelan classical guitarist, Daniél Marchan. He eventually went on to study with some of the greatest classical guitar performers and pedagogues including, but not limited to Jason Vieaux, Aaron Shearer, SoloDuo, Andrew Zohn, Denis Azabagic, and Zoran Dukić.
In 2010, Danny was the guitarist for the world-premiere of the resurrected opera "Flora” for the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC. Two years later he performed and recorded another world-premiere, Landshcaften, by Martin Herchenroeder (Albany Records), a concerto for two guitars and orchestra with Bowling Green State University Orchestra. He also premiered the guitar duet "Distant Cries” with Grammy-winner Jason Vieaux, written by Stephen Stanziano. In 2016 Danny played guitar and mandolin for the Mid-Atlantic Emmy nominated show "Live From Nied's Hotel."
Danny is integrally rooted in the Pittsburgh music scene playing guitar and mandolin in various groups in the area. He maintains a busy performance calendar, playing solo and in-collaboration at the local and national level. He has performed with Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Jim Avett, (father of Scott and Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers), Michael Glabicki, Jim Donovan, and Liz Berlin of Rusted Root, The Clarks, Donnie Iris, and The Commonheart, to name a few. Danny’s own music has been heard across the entire dial of local radio, including WRCT, WQED, WYEP, WDVE, and WXDX. His music has also been utilized commercially, most notably his composition, "Road Song,” which was used for a nationally-televised Scott's Lawn Care commercial.
In November 2022, Danny released his second solo album, Canyon on Misra Records. His first album, Samadhi was released in 2019 on the same label. He has performed on the soundtrack for the mobile app “Little Pizzeria,” created by Orta Interactive Studio. In the summer of 2022, he performed and composed music for the kids' TV show "Hello Humans."
Danny holds a Bachelor's from Duquesne University under the mentorship of Tom Kikta and Tim Bedner. In 2011, he completed a Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Grammy-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux.
Currently he resides in Pittsburgh, PA where he enjoys teaching, running, biking, and fixing up his house.
