SHORT BIOGRAPHY (3rd Person)
Danupon Nanongkai is a Scientific Director at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany. He received a Ph.D. in Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization (ACO) from Georgia Tech in 2011 and a docent (aka habilitation) in Computer Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, in 2017. [more]
His research focuses on graph algorithms and computational complexity, with particular interest in developing algorithmic techniques that are effective across a range of computational models. He has contributed to efficient algorithms for fundamental graph problems, such as connectivity and distances, in settings ranging from sequential to distributed and dynamic algorithms.

PROJECT & JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Please read below before contacting me. I apologize if I cannot reply to all emails on this matter.
See here for positions at MPI, including internships
PhD student/Internship: Candidates with strong profiles (e.g. IOI/IMO competitors, German students with grades close to 1.0) who have read some papers on the publication page or the project & job opportunities page can contact me directly. Please mention which paper(s) you have read.
Postdoc/Group leader: We always look for people who want to persue ambitious research goals independently or together with us. For how to apply, see here. In exceptional cases (e.g. you need to respond to another offer before our deadline), please feel free to contact me.
Master thesis: If you are studying in Saarbruecken, feel free to drop me a line. Otherwise, please apply as an intern (see above).
