A Biarritz Diary
Sunday 22nd June
I Flew from Dublin To Biarritz last Sunday. The flight took 2 hours. Took a taxi from the airport to the Hotel Anjou. Paid €43 for the room. Took a walk down to the beach. No surf. Asked a local when there would be waves. He said the next day. Went for something to eat. Met a group of Americans who were staying in Anglet. I decided to explore the bars. Apparently the best bar in town is the Newquay so I headed there. Met a lot of Irish people. In fact it was almost all Irish people. After a few drinks there I headed down to check out the Casino. Had a beer and played €10 on the roulette table. Decided to check out the nightclubs. Went to Le Set. It wasnt bad. Got a bit fed up and decided to check out La Cubana nightclub. After a couple of drinks there I decided to go back to the hotel to get some rest.
Monday 23rd June
Woke up next day with a hangover. Got a taxi from the hotel to Fontaine Laborde campsite in Anglet, the town next to Biarritz. Cost me €13. Set up my tent beside a group of Australians. Grabbed my surfboard and headed down to the beach which is only 500 yards away. It was great to get into the water. Stayed in for two hours. Went back to the campsite, had something to eat at the restaurant and then settled down at the bar.
