More details can be found here, in the information tab, or in the big file in the cottage (found on the dining table or dresser), which tells you how to do everything, but basically these are the only things you’ll need to sort out to get up and running:
Getting in
The access is through the side gate in-between the garage and house. ///boast.translate.prepped
If you are arriving late take a torch, or have your mobile to hand for finding the key safe.
The key safe is located at the back of the garden on the shed wall (left hand side) – near the pergola (///perky.model.thrashing) You will be given the code to the key safe.
To open key safe
1. Move central black switch at bottom of keypad downwards.
2. Enter code
3. Move central chrome switch at top of keypad downwards.
4. Open.
To lock key safe
Repeat the above and close door before releasing the chrome switch.
Once in you’ll need to sort the gas and water unless it’s been left on for you.
Water
Under the sink in the kitchen you’ll find the (brass) water cut off tap; open it up. The blue lever switches the water off for the washing machine so please don’t turn that.
Gas
Turn on the gas bottle – found at the back of the cottage in the garden, on the right as you look back at the house, behind a wooden screen (///epidemics.stubble.offerings). There should be a label hanging on the gas bottle to use… open it up, and make sure that the yellow cut off on the main pipe behind the bottles is open (open is parallel to the pipe – not at right angles).
Once the gas is on, go back into the cottage and in the bathroom you’ll find a cupboard with the boiler in. Plug it in. That’s all – touch no buttons! The boiler will do its thing for a minute or two then you should have hot water from the tap (worth a check). You can put the heating on (if needed) by finding the thermostat in the ‘dining’ area up above the kitchen doorway on the left. Please remember to turn this down to 0 if you are heading out for the day, as we don’t want to waste too much gas. If a gas bottle runs out then swap the bottles over and ring Jenny (01223276405) so she can order another one.
Shower
The isolation switch for the shower is in the kitchen. It’s just above the bathroom door (quite high up!) on the left hand side.
Fire, food, and wine
There’s loads of wood and coal in the garage if you fancy a fire, just help yourself. There’s a bbq in the shed too. You’ll find random food and booze kicking around – all of it is there to be used, honestly! Gin/Wine/Beer is normally in the cupboard in the front room… it’s all stuff people have left to be drunk – so feel free to use it, and you are more than welcome to leave bottles and cans as well if you feel so inclined!
If you have a fire and are cleaning it out after, I strongly advise you not to take out the metal bars in the fire– just scrape the ash through into the tray underneath, then pull that out. You can scatter the cold ashes on the garden.
If you’re struggling with anything the folder can answer most questions. There’s a list of good pubs/restaurants and things to do on the website too.
Any real problems ring Jenny on 01223 276405 or 07974000379 or call the person you booked through.
That’s it! Have fun.
