TIP: Always start with content & info first! Decorate later.
Usually, the title is the easiest thing to do first. It would be the topic that your teacher assigned to you, or one that you have chosen.
TIP: When filling up your slide with info, make sure not to fill up the entire page.
It's best to keep your slide as clean as possible. Don't clutter it with words. Add some space by using "Line Spacing" and increasing the distance between your sentences.
If you are using bullet points, feel free to "add a space after or before the list item".
TIP: If you are required to have a works cited slide, don't forget to copy & paste your sources' URL on a new slide. You can arrange that slide later.
Since I had a bunch of information about the Italian Campaign, I split them into 2 different slides, thus making it feel not as cluttered.
I also took the chance to add pictures.
TIP: You can duplicate the slide in order to create an effect where only certain things change.
In the picture above, I kept the title and changed the picture and info.
Don't be afraid to add a slide with only pictures.
This way you can describe what is going on and your audience can see your pictures clearly.
Once you are done filling up your slides, you can start making your slides look nice.
After finding an image that I liked, the steps that I take to bring it to my slides, does not involve downloading anything-saving space on my computer. :)
Right click on the image and select "Copy image address".
TIP: Try to find clear, non-blurry images. Don't grab images with words or other busy stuff if you are going to use it as a background. It will be really hard to see your info.
Then in Slides, click on Insert, Image, and then By URL. Paste the URL and click Insert.
TIP: You can position your images behind your text by selecting it, right click, and Order.
After some adjustments, [Go to Format Options] and some font searching, my title page came out pretty good.
I used "Happy Monkey" as my font.
TIP: Don't choose fonts that are hard to read, try to avoid cursive.
Don't use too many of them either, try to have 1-2 fonts.
For your other slides, keep a common theme by using a color from your title page. Then find a complementary color, here I used an eggshell white.

Notice I used a different font for my info on the right, it is close to the first font, it's not a drastic change.
That's It!
