About CVU Hoop Hawks

CVU Hoop Hawks competes in the Sunday League, which is a competitive basketball league with an emphasis on player development and sportsmanship. Teams are organized by area high school districts. CVU teams consist of players from Williston, Charlotte, Shelburne, St. George, and Hinesburg.

There are 4 divisions in the Sunday League: Grade 7-8 Girls, Grade 7-8 Boys, Grade 4-6 Girls, and Grade 4-6 Boys. Within each division, CVU will have an A and B team to ensure the best match ups in the Sunday League. Assignment to A or B depends on strength and experience of the player.

Games in the Sunday League are played on Sundays at Essex High School. Games begin in early November and will be held on the following dates:

  • Nov. 6, 20, 27

  • Dec. 4, 11, 18

  • Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29

  • Feb. 5, 12, 19

  • Two-day double elimination tournament March 11-12

  • Games are played on full sized high school courts.

  • Equal playing time is not guaranteed.

  • Officials are scheduled to referee the games.

  • Parents are needed to assist with keeping the scorebook.

PRACTICES

  • Held in area gymnasiums.

  • 2-3 times per week from October 3rd to November 14.

  • 1 time per week once middle school basketball begins.

  • Days of the week, time and location will vary according to gym availability.

  • Players are expected to attend practices.

COSTS

    • Registration: The 2022/2023 cost has not been determined yet. It will depend on the number of teams and players, but it is expected to be in the range of $100 to $150 per player. This fee also covers:

      • team entry fee to participate in the league

      • use of the gymnasiums

      • officials

      • equipment such as basketballs and medical kit supplies

      • uniform

    • Uniform: Players with Mini Metro uniforms may continue to use them. New "CVU" uniforms will be ordered as needed. We use a reversible jersey (red and white) that can also be used at practices.

    • Coaches: are volunteers and do not get paid.

MISC

A Registration/Consent and Release Form must be completed by each player and turned in to the team coach.

    • There is a sportsmanship code for players, coaches, officials, parents, and fans.

    • Players provide own transportation to practices and games.

    • Remember…Practice jersey, appropriate footwear, knee pads, water bottles, no gum or jewelry, hair tied back.
