Astronomy is the branch of science which deals with celestial objects, space, and the physical universe as a whole. This friendly and interactive group discusses Astronomy and Space Science topics, news and events. In addition, external speakers and group members give talks on related subjects - recent examples include Planetary Geology, Asteroids, Space Weather and the Hubble Space Telescope.
Until the end of 2021 the group meets on the second Wednesday of each month (except April, August and December), starting at 10am and finishing around 1115. There is also a WhatsApp group for additional communication in addition to newsletters which are distributed every couple of weeks.
It is hoped that the group will continue in 2022, however, the current group leader is stepping down at the end of 2021 and no successor has yet been found. If anyone is willing to take on the group leader role, please send an email to the address below.
Pre-covid, the Group met, also starting at 10.00am on the second Wednesday of each month (except April, August and December) at St Mary's Church, Park Road, Camberley, GU15 2SR, usually in the Parkside Room.
