We start our discussions by asking what vegetables and fruits our students eat for lunch. Then we relate what we eat to parts of plants and why we need to understand plants as an important food source.
We follow up by watching a video on plant life cycle and drawing a picture identifying parts of a plant (bud, flower, leaf, root, seed, seedpod, stem, etc). Students learn that flowers are reproductive parts of a plant and flowers are pollinated to produce seeds. Students use magnifier glasses to closely observe the flowers they brought to the meeting.
Finally, we watched a video on pollination process. Students learn that pollination is the process of transferring pollen from one plant to another. The common pollinators are bird, insect and wind.
