The owner of the COUCHSURFING trademark, "Better World Through Travel, Inc.", is a C-Corporation incorporated in the U.S. State of Delaware.

According to the "B-Lab" website, a C-Corporation of the name "CouchSurfing International" founded in January 2004 was certified as a "B-Corporation" by B-Lab in August, 2011 for 2010 based on self-assessment by CouchSurfing.

However, no C-Corporation with the name "CouchSurfing" is on record as having been registered before 2011 and B-Lab is currently investigating the circumstances under which B-Corp certification was issued for CouchSurfing by mistake.

CouchSurfing is not a "Benefit Corporation", which is a new legal form available in certain U.S. states.
