Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to apply for every semester?
Yes, CSF wants to ensure you're keeping your grades up. Applications can be found in Mr. Lam's room in T-5 near the beginning of each semester. There will be announcements whenever you must apply or reapply.
When and where are the meetings?
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of every month, usually excluding the month of applications at the beginning of each semester, and are held in the auditorium. (As of COVID, we have been on Zoom!) However, meetings are subject to change from time to time, so make sure to check your email for updates from us.
I'm a Freshman and I want to join. Tell me how to
Hello Freshman. To sign up for CSF, you must use the prior semester of high school grades. That means you must have to wait for the second semester to join, but every year after that, you'll be able to apply in the first semester. Keep up the good grades to ensure you'll be eligible.
Help! I don't have enough points! What do I do?!
Never fear. You must obtain 15 points per semester. During the school year, there will be roll over points in play, which means you can complete any hours you missed in the last school year by completing the amount you missed this year. If you don't have 15 points by the end of the first semester, you can rejoin in the second semester and complete a total of 30. I highly suggest doing outside hours if you want to do roll over points or know you won't make it to many meetings.
Man, I want to go to meetings but I have another club or activity going on. Is there anyway I can get points for the meeting?
Unfortunately, to get points for the meeting, you must attend them. We try our best to meet only once a month because we know everyone is busy. Remember, CSF only has a handful of meetings throughout the year so these should be a priority for all members.
I'm not getting emails, what should I do?
Occasionally, there will be a tiny mistake when entering emails either by a member or the cabinet. If this happens, please talk to us at one of the meetings or email us at csfatjfk@gmail.com
What type of membership do I need to be decked out at graduation?
For all of the graduation decorations (stole, pin, cords, tassel, and more!) you must be a 100% Life Member, having 6 semesters of active membership (150 points total). For all graduation decorations except the stole, you must be a Life Member, having 4 semesters of active membership (100 points total). All decorations are free of charge.
How do I become an Active Member?
To be considered active, you must get roughly 15 points per semester. It's OKAY to get a little more or a little less, as long as you have your target amount of points overall.
What scholarships are available?
Within the club, scholarships are offered to senior Life and 100% Life Members. Amount varies year to year. Applications are available in Mr. Lam's room towards the end of the year. Check our scholarships page to find some others.
Does CSF ever collaborate with other clubs/ students?
Yes! Shoot us an email at csfatjfk@gmail.com if you're interesting in partnering with us. We constantly work with other school service groups and always love helping out senior projects with donations or volunteers.
