Research Ideas for the Next Five Years!

What are Software Engineering research projects should we be working on in the near future?

This workshop panel will peer into the next five years, and identify the important issues in software engineering education and training that should become research and development projects. We will collect and organize ideas, themes, issues, whatever we can think of that will drive research projects in our field in the near future. We will do team brainstorming, group and consolidate the results, rank the importance of the projects, and do a preliminary estimate of the size and time needed for these projects. This workshop panel will develop an overview of the research themes that we, as a community, believe are important to the field of software engineering education and training.

Or, as the abstract in the proceedings puts it:

Abstract—What are the research problems in software engineering education and training that our community needs to focus our efforts on over the next five years? This panel will map out our research frontiers, in terms of themes or projects, importance, size, and time to complete. The outcome of the panel will be a list of research areas and groupings, along with rankings of these items in terms of importance, size, and time to complete.
