CSEAR France

A community of researchers who are dedicated in social and environmental accounting research has been developing for several years in many countries including France. CSEAR France, which is the French satellite office of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research based in St Andrews in Scotland, UK, aims at providing to this French community better visibility as well as a space for informal exchanges, stimulation and promotion of these themes.

Great events have already taken place with the very first CSEAR France conference organized by Nicolas Berland at the University Paris-Dauphine in June 2011. The second conference was held at the University of Montpellier 1 by Sophie Spring in May 2013 and hosted over 90 participants from 12 different countries. It has been followed by a Special Issue of the journal Critical Perspectives on Accounting. The third conference was held at ESSEC Business School by Charles Cho in June 2015 and hosted over 60 participants. It has been followed by a Special Issue in Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management. The fourth conference was held at Toulouse Business School by Delphine Gibassier and Jonathan Maurice in May 2017 and hosted around 50 participants from 11 countries. It has been followed by a Special Issue in Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal. The fifth conference took place in 2019 at the IAE Paris, also bringing together many French and international researchers in SEA. The sixth conference was held 100% online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has been organized by Audencia Business School in May 2021, for the first time in partnership with the EMAN community. The seventh edition, hosted by Sophie Spring at the Montpellier Management Institute in June 2023, once again brought together researchers from many countries.

Our next congress will be held in 2025 at the IUT in Paris.
